The Hollow Lands

Author: Michael Moorcock

Genre: Science Fiction

Year: 1974

Rating: 8 of 10

It took me too long to get to this sequel, as the first book in the series blew me away. The Hollow Lands is a direct continuation of An Alien Heat, same characters and all, and same ridiculous and fun world. It was a hilarious and decadent book but being a sequel did not have the surprise that the first book held. I can’t help but wonder how I would feel if I had read this right after the first book. While it was funny and enjoyable I did have a bit of the sense that it was just more of the same, however this attitude may have been colored by a certain listlessness I have been feeling lately. All and all it is an absurd and fun story and well worth a read, it has it all: time travel, aliens, power rings and general shenanigans. And this time I will be reading the third book immediately.
