Brothers of Earth

Author: C.J. Cherryh

Genre: Fantasy

Year: 1976

Rating: 3 of 10

I don’t have many kind words for this book, so I will keep it brief. For starters this book was labeled as science fiction but it is not. I found the characters to be thin and their motivations to not make sense. The main character just floats around from situation to situation, and is largely devoid of any real purpose. The language was also passive an irritating, and up until the last few pages Cherryh is still throwing new and unnecessary terminology at the reader. I can see how some fans of fantasy might enjoy this book, but for me it fell totally flat and I’m surprised I finished reading it.
