Tempest Blades: The Root of Hope

A mini-interview with Ricardo Victoria

Tell us about your new book?

“Tempest Blades: The Root of Hope”, it’s the fourth and final book on the current Tempest Blades series. It’s about how all the thread plots from the previous books come to conclusion, how the world faces its end and what Fionn and his found family deals with. It’s the conclusion of Fionn’s personal arc as well. But above all, it’s a story about finding and keeping hope alive and fighting back even when everything is collapsing around you, and it’s a story about passing the torch to the next generation in stewardship of the planet.

What aspect of the book was the most fun to write?

Probably the fights. There were many fights and duels (including an aerial one) I’ve been dying to write since day one of the series that couldn’t fit organically in the previous books that did fit here. And it was cool to see how my cast reached their maturity while still joking among them.

If there is one emotion or theme that you would hope that the reader connects with, what would that be?

Hope. Not just because of the title, but because that’s the main theme of the book. Find the place or person from where you can draw your hope and use it to get up when things get dire.
